At Fajã dos Padres, we wish to offer you a warm and seamless welcome from the very first moment. To help us prepare your stay, we kindly ask you to contact us before your arrival.
Please inform us of:
- Your expected arrival time, so we can personally welcome you and prepare your check-in.
- Whether you would like to request a Dinner on your arrival day, for a relaxed and effortless first evening. Check the menu at Your Dinner Options page.
- Any food allergies, dietary restrictions, or preferences, so we may accommodate your needs whenever possible.
Your stay at Fajã dos Padres
Fajã dos Padres stretches along a one-kilometer-wide crystaline seafront, with a jetty and a spacious solarium for your enjoyment.
Our Restaurant, opens for breakfast and lunch, serves fresh fish and uses produce from our organic farm. You can enjoy these on our sea-view terrace and take advantage of the shower and cabin facilities on the beach.
Dinner is delivered at the house, whenever ordered in advance.Â

How to get to Fajã dos Padres
Access to the property is provided by a modern cable car, which descends the impressive 300-metre cliff to Fajã dos Padres, offering a unique and memorable arrival experience.
The cable car is located approximately 28.5 km from the airport, around 10 km from Funchal, and less than 6 km from Ribeira Brava.

To access the upper cable car station, you can take road Padre António Dinis Henriques, 1. From VR1, take the exit at Km 6, which is exit number 3 indicating Cabo Girão/Quinta Grande. Turn left, heading south, and continue straight until you reach the end of road Padre António Dinis Henriques. There should be an arrow on the highway pointing in that direction.
There are no direct bus routes from Funchal to Fajã dos Padres. You must ride a bus to Quinta Grande from Funchal taking the Via Rápida. You will be dropped off at the exit of the highway under the bridge. From here, it´s a 15-20 minute walk to the top of the Cable cars.

Cable car trips
Cable car operating hours: 8:00-18:00 (19:00 in Summer)
Late evening operating hours (entrance only): 21:00-22:00.
Trips out of the regular cable car operating hours must be arranged with some time in advance with the cable car operator, and have an additional cost.
Luggage transportation service are available upon request for arrivals until 17:00.

Dinner Suggestion
Although the restaurant is not open for dinner, we provide a daily dinner option for your comfort and convenience. Please order in advance (before 15:30) at the restaurant or reception, and your meal will be delivered to your door..

Reservation Policies
House Selection
Due to the limited number of available houses and the need for effective management of our availability, Fajã dos Padres reserves the right to change the selected house during the booking process to an equivalent one. This may be done without prior notice to the client. Rest assured that the alternative house provided will have similar characteristics to the original selection.
Force Majeure
Due to the unique location and access means of Fajã dos Padres (only accessible by cable car, a 250-meter high exterior panoramic lift, or by boat), it is possible that access to the property may be restricted in severe weather conditions or due to prolonged technical issues with the cable car or lift.
The cable car is the primary means of access to Fajã dos Padres. In cases of high winds or technical problems, guests may be asked to use the panoramic lift as an alternative. It is important to note that the lift access involves climbing 188 steps from the road level to the panoramic lift top station, and an additional 160 steps from the lower station to the main property path. Please be aware that the lift access is not suitable for individuals with reduced mobility.
If access to the property needs to be restricted, our staff will accompany guests and arrange for their stay at a nearby hotel with equivalent comfort conditions. Your comfort and safety are our priority, and we will ensure suitable arrangements are made in such situations.
